True Fish and Ski By Go Boating Test Team Based on the great success with its smaller Q6 SF (ski-and-fish) model last year, Tahoe decided to step into 2007 with the larger, 20-foot, 6-inch Q7i SF. This new model is designed to hold nine people, and it offers plenty of features to keep anglers and family members happy. When it comes time to break out the rods, there are plenty of features anglers will appreciate. At the bow, there’s an aerated livewell to hold onto the ones you catch as well as a fishing seat that locks into the deck after removing the bow cushions. In the cockpit you’ll find tackle trays in the port console and rod holders below the starboard gunwale. Anglers will also appreciate the standard foot-controlled MotorGuide wireless trolling motor when it’s time to go into stealth mode. For the skiers or wakeboarders in the family, the swim platform is great for getting geared up or hanging out while taking a dip. It features a boarding ladder, a stainless steel ski tow eye and a decent-sized cooler for drinks. A large ski locker provides enough room to accommodate wakeboards, water skis and other toys. The wide walk-through transom is great for moving from the cockpit to the swim platform, and the sunpad offers a place to lie out. Inside the cockpit is a pair of swivel bucket seats with flip-up bolsters, and each position also has a footrest for comfort. The L-shaped seating to the rear provides plenty of room for passengers along with storage space and room for the cooler. Powering our Tahoe Q7i was a 190 hp MerCruiser 4.3L TKS stern drive, which provided us with impressive acceleration out of the hole for boardsports. Top speed was also noteworthy at 50.8 mph, which means anglers will be able to get to their favorite fishing hole in a flash. If you crave even more speed, there’s the option to go up to a 320 hp stern drive from MerCruiser or Volvo Penta. Thanks to dedicated storage areas for the trolling motor and fishing seats, you can take your family out without them feeling like they’re on a fishing boat.
