The new-for-2008 Tahoe 225 is designed for families that do it all, from cruising to swimming to fishing to skiing. This beamy single-console deckboat offers lots of deck space and runs smooth and dry on open water. With a seating capacity of 12, a refreshment center, removable table with two locations and a Sony AM/FM/CD with MP3 port and four speakers, it is designed to entertain both friends and family in style.
The 225 features a bow anchor locker that also stows the stepladder. The bow step-up is home for the pedestal mount for a fishing seat. The fore gunwales have padded backrests, as do the seats that face forward. All bow seats remove for storage.
We gave high marks for the refreshment center. There are two separate lids with drains for thawing and rinsing on one side and the other has a strainer and drain. The faucet retracts so that when all the lids are closed, you have a flush foodpreparation area or cocktail area with two cupholders and rails to keep things from falling. There’s storage beneath the sink for the tabletop and fishing seat when they’re not in use. The door has two compartments for storing non-perishable food and its latches are solid and secure.
A changing room/head is located beneath the console. In-floor ski and wakeboard storage is accessible via two large hatches.
The 225’s helm features a full complement of gauges, a bolster seat and courtesy lights. Across the way is another bench seat with reclining backrest. Beneath it is designated storage for a 48-quart cooler and a large drawer. Behind it is another snack station with three cup holders and a trash receptacle. Moving aft, there’s L-shaped bench seating with storage beneath and two rod holders. At the transom, there’s a ski/tow ring, a swim platform with boarding ladder and a place to rinse your feet.
Priced at $29,495, which includes all the features we just mentioned, and powered by a 220 hp MerCruiser 5.0L sterndrive, we found the Tahoe 225 to be a very versatile, well-designed and affordable family boat.
